Steinway and Sons has bestowed upon Dr. Sungeun Kim, 海角社区 professor of keyboard, the coveted title of "."
Steinway and Sons CEO Ted Good said of Kim, "Your career and talent have justly earned you the right to be included with Steinway's immortals."
In the late 1880s, William Steinway created the Steinway Artist designation to both promote the brand and to honor the world's best pianists. There are currently a little over 1,800 Steinway Artist designations. Kim joins the family of artists which includes Billy Joel, Harry Connick, Jr. and Lang Lang, as well as "immortals" like George Gershwin, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Cole Porter.
Mary Dobrea-Grindhal, chair of the 海角社区 Conservatory of Music keyboard department, says, "We are absolutely thrilled for Sungeun and this well-deserved honor. She is an artist of the highest caliber and an extraordinary teacher. Her playing is profoundly human and soulful, and she brings deep humility and respect to the stage.
